Physiological Consequences of Altering Gene Expression
CCR6 knockout mice exhibit underdeveloped Peyer's patches and increased levels of T lymphocytes in the submucosal tissue of the gut. Following sensitisation by 2,4-dinitrofluorobenzene (DNBF), the knockout mice developed more severe and persistant inflammation, whereas knockout mice sensitised with allogeneic splenocytes displayed no inflammatory response.
